Whether you’re preparing for your initial Class 1 assessment or a routine revalidation, understanding what happens during a pilot medical exam can take the stress out of the experience. At Centreline Aviation Medical Services, we aim to make every step clear, comfortable, and professional.

Here’s what you can expect when you attend your appointment.

Arrival and Check-In

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment. Our team will welcome you, verify your ID, and confirm your Cellma registration details. If you haven’t completed your Cellma profile in advance, we’ll help guide you through it.

The Medical History Review

You’ll begin with a review of your medical history. This includes any medications you take, previous surgeries or conditions, and lifestyle factors like smoking or alcohol use. Transparency is essential to ensure your safety in the air.

Vision and Hearing Tests

Next, we check your eyesight and hearing. You’ll be tested with and without corrective lenses. Bring your glasses or contact lenses if you wear them. These tests ensure that you meet the required standards for cockpit duties.

Cardiovascular and General Health Checks

An ECG will assess your heart’s electrical activity. We’ll also check your blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI. A urine sample is required to screen for diabetes or kidney issues.

Mental Health and Neurological Review

A basic psychological and neurological evaluation helps us ensure you’re fit for the demands of flying. This is not an exam to “pass or fail” but rather a holistic part of your medical profile.

Certification and Follow-Up

If all goes well, your medical certificate will be issued promptly. In some cases, we may request further tests or specialist reports before certifying. If so, our team will help you navigate the next steps smoothly.

Additional Tips

  • Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine the day before your exam.

  • Get a good night’s sleep.

  • Bring all necessary documents and arrive in good time.

Trust Centreline for a Professional, Supportive Experience

Our examiners are not just qualified medical professionals — many are pilots themselves, and understand your needs first-hand. We offer extended hours, convenient locations, and an experience designed around your success.
